Two-Sided Double-Face Black Man Ornament from Garland Antique Germany
Two-Sided Double-Face Black Man Ornament from Garland Antique Germany This extremely rare mercury glass ornament was originally manufactured as part of a longer garland, but after many decades, perhaps even a century or more, only this one remains. Depicting a double-sided, two-faced head of an Black man with silver skin and pink hair and lips. My research suggests that this was made in Germany during the early part of the 20th century. Noted on page 230 of Volume 2 of George Johnson’s seminal Christmas ornaments reference as produced prior to 1940 and one of the rarest. In very good condition for its age with no cracks or chips and with more even color than most depictions I’ve been able to find. Please see all pictures for complete details. Dimensions: 1 1/4″ x 2″ (from pike end to pike end) Weight: not measurable on my scale.
