We are offering for sale a superb piece of Czech craftsmanship! Made in the Gablonz region of old Czechoslovakia, beaded Christmas ornaments such as these have been made for over 150 years. This is an ultra rare Antique Czech phosphoric wax filled glass bead acorn Christmas ornament. This style of ornament is one of the first ever made and is from the 1850’s – 1900’s. The phosphoric wax glows or flouresces. In remarkable conditionwith the wax intact which is extremely rare. Total length 3.5. From the 16th century Christmas tree decorations have been created from various materials. The most spectacular and fragile decorations are assembled of glass beads and bugles – called Gablonz ornaments (or in German Gablonzer Glasperlen-Cristbaumschmuck). They were produced in the region of Jablonec nad Nisou (or in German Gablonz an der Neiße) – capital of the Austrian bead industry during the Austrian Empire in Northern Bohemia (now Czech Republic) starting in the middle 19th century.
