American Made 1930s Blown Glass Christmas Ornaments
These seven blown glass Christmas ornaments were made in the late 1930s to very early 1940s, probably by Premier Glass Works. Blown ornaments were produced for only a very short time in this country – once Corning modified their light bulb machines to mass produce ornaments, the labor intensive blown method stopped. The ornaments are variations of teardrop and parachute shapes in pink, magenta, red, and silver. The large red ornament is 4-3/4 inches high, the others are 3-3/4 to 4 inches. There are no chips or breaks and very little color fading or finish wear. The metal caps are marked Made in U. The word “of” helps date them to the pre-war years. The ornaments are scarce and wonderful pieces of American Christmas history. See my other listings for hundreds of antique and vintage Christmas items.
