Victorian/Edwardian Antique Vintage Glass Christmas Fairy Lights
Vintage Christmas Fairy Lights. This is a collection of the antique Christmas fairy lights that I have left. The first nine in the first image are some of the rarer assorted colours I have acquired. The following image with the green, blue and amber is what is left from a barn find of over a hundred that I acquired. PLEASE see below the list of available items underneath for the original description I had on the original listing of the barn find. The list below is what is seen in the drop down list. When selected, please wait whilst the images of that particular item load. Generally, all lights show signs of use, with some having wax/smoke residue. Many are dusty, dirty with cobwebs etc from being stored for the last 80 years, some have wire in good condition whilst some wire is broken and others have none – please see all images. All approximately 3.5 in height. Teal – Good condition. Purple – Small chip to the rim (likely associated with wire damage whilst hung). Teal #2 – No cracks or chips that I can see, good condition. Pale Pink – No wire, possibly dirty clear rather than pale pink but I got the impression it was not totally clear glass. No cracks or chips I can see. Blue – No cracks or chip. This one and the following green one are much lighter and thinner than what is normal/compared to the others. They also have holes in the side to attach the wire through. Green – Same as above in terms of being lighter and thinner than usual. There is a crack between the two wire holes on one side. Amber/Brown Pair – One is thicker and therefore heavier than the other, with its wire snapped also. The lighter one has a chip to the rim where it is hung by the wire. No cracks to either that I can see. Hand & Sons – This is a very rare light from what I can gather. Not only by the matt light blue colour but also with the inclusion of a maker. T Hand & Sons Northampton Made in France’. No cracks or chips that I can see. Amber/Brown -‘Good’ – #1, as seen numbered in the images – Maybe a small crack on rim but good overall. Amber/Brown -‘Good’ – #2, as seen numbered in the images – Small crack to the rim. Amber/Brown -‘Good’ – #3, as seen numbered in the images – No cracks that I can see. Amber/Brown -‘Good’ – #4, as seen numbered in the images – Good with exception of a chip/hole to the base. Blue -‘Good’ – #1, as seen numbered in the images – Few knicks to the rim but not out of the ordinary for these lights, caused by being hung with the wire. Blue -‘Good’ – #2, as seen numbered in the images – No cracks/chips that I can see. Blue -‘Good’ – #3, as seen numbered in the images – No cracks/chips that I can see. Blue -‘Good’ – #4, as seen numbered in the images – Slightly flattened portion of the rim but no cracks/chips that I can see. Blue -‘Good’ – #5, as seen numbered in the images – No cracks/chips that I can see. Blue -‘Good’ – #6, as seen numbered in the images – No cracks/chips that I can see. Blue -‘Good’ – #7, as seen numbered in the images – No cracks/chips that I can see. 6x Damaged Blue Group #1 – 2 with broken pieces of the rim, 3 with cracks and 1 with chip/hole to the base. Most severe damage to each is photographed. 6x Damaged Blue Group #2 – 2 with broken rims, 3 with singular cracks, 1 with a flat side and chips to the rim. 7x Damaged Amber Group – 4x cracked rims (2 with broken off partially present rim pieces), 3 more with broken rims two of which with additional crack. 4x Damaged Green Group – 2 with holes to bottom, 2 missing pieces to neck/rim. Overall not bad, functional. This is a very rare barn find of a large amount of stunning, vintage, antique Christmas tree glass fairy lights. These types of glass candle holders, with the quilted pattern, were made around the 1880s to 1930s. I think they are quite a bit older than this however due to condition and signs of use. The price you see is for one item. As explained below, the condition varies and any with damage I have separated and ones that are largely in good condition are listed as’Good’. These are, if not already, getting on for a hundred years old and are very fragile. Each one has signs of use and may contain wax, some of which is burnt from past use and appears black on the item. Not only this, but every piece is’dirty’ in respect to being dusty, cobwebby, oily etc as they have been stored away for 80 odd years and have had previous use. Most, if not all of the pieces have wire attached in order to hang the lights up. I would recommend changing the wire as already mentioned, these have been sitting in a box for 80 years+ and I would not like to risk the glass being suspended by possibly weak wire. If purchasing a’Good’ piece, I will pick them out randomly from the batch that I have deemed as’Good’. These are pieces without any large holes and pieces without any large cracks, but may contain the odd crack/chip associated with age, use and method of storage but all will be functional and charming. They measure approximately 9cm in height and weigh on average around 120-140g. The wooden crate shows past woodworm and measures approximately: 53cm long x 40cm high x 33cm wide. The shades between each colour can vary slightly from one to the other. This is largely based on the cleanliness as some have been used more than others. This can be seen clearly with the’Clear’ pieces as there are four that are very transparent whereas others are coming across darker due to more heavy use but can hopefully be cleaned up, if desired, by scraping away old wax and removing the burnt residue. There is one rare Teal piece which is in a nice condition for its age but has some cracking, listed separately. There is one different Blue design with a smooth rim and it a very nice piece, listed separately. There is a pair of blue pieces, with a slightly different design to the others, listed separately. Please see read the above and also see images. Ask for more if needed. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS – The price given is for one light. I can send additional at a small increase per light.
